Vysus Group is a leading engineering and technical consultancy offering specialist asset performance, risk management and project management expertise across complex industrial assets, energy assets (oil and gas, nuclear, renewables), the energy transition, rail and road. The role We’re looking for a corrosion specialist to join our consultancy team working on projects associated with a diverse range of upstream and downstream oil & gas, chemical, power and utility industries. The corrosion team’s typical projects enable clients to manage and improve the integrity, risk, performance and reliability of their assets through risk assessment, development of corrosion management documents and life extension studies. The primary function of the corrosion specialist will be for the provision of specialist expertise in any of the following areas: Corrosion risk assessment Corrosion management consultancy Development and maintenance of risk-based inspection studies Materials selection and suitability assessment Ageing asset life extension Failure analysis and co-ordination of third-party laboratories Corrosion design review Technical due diligence assessments You will also be actively involved in: Performing assessments and providing advice for service delivery within agreed parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements. Discussing and presenting deliverables with clients and be able to assess alternative solutions where appropriate. Undertaking routine administration, as required, in-line with current processes and procedures. Assessing and recommending scope, cost, time and resources of work to be undertaken, meeting contractual and project requirements. Pursuing continuous professional development and maintaining a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness. Conducting activities in-line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards. Giving technical guidance to other employees and disseminating information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application. Assisting in service delivery improvement by communicating feedback. Acting as a point of contact to effectively manage client relationships. Supervising assistant engineers, technical assistants and other colleagues as required. Deputising for senior engineers as required Required Honours degree in natural sciences, materials or related engineering discipline Minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience Good verbal communication and technical writing skills Demonstrable working knowledge of key industry standards in the field of corrosion and materials engineering Ability to respond to issues with creative solutions and work in a multi-disciplinary international team Desirable Postgraduate qualification in corrosion (or directly relevant technical subject) Industry certification to relevant courses, e.g. AMPP/NACE corrosion technologist, API (e.g. 571, 580, 581, etc.) Member of professional institute and working towards incorporated/chartered status through the engineering council. Familiar with corrosion monitoring devices/techniques (coupons, probes, fluid analysis, etc.) Familiar with corrosion mitigation measures (material design, coatings, cathodic protection) Knowledge of inspection techniques and their relevance to specific damage mechanisms
