ABOUT THIS ROLE:

Cescor UK is recruiting for a Materials and Corrosion engineer to support the activities and growth plan of our 
recently established UK office. The person shall be capable of delivering project work in accordance with technical 
procedures and international normative within an agreed schedule and budget. The candidate engineer shall have 
a materials and corrosion related experience of at least two years, working for the energy (subsea, offshore, 
onshore) or other related industry. A strong academic background in corrosion and metallic materials is essential.

Location ✓ London (estimated travel time requirements within UK or abroad to  not exceed 20% of work-time). 
Responsible to ✓ CESCOR UK Director (based in UK) 
Key working relationships with ✓ CESCOR SRL Engineering team (based in Italy) 
Contract type ✓ Full-time, open-ended 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND ROLE FUNCTION 

The successful candidate will be required to undertake the following activities, supported by  
more senior resources based in London or Milan offices: 
  
▪ Preparation of corrosion assessments and material selection reports for oil and gas assets (for 
conceptual and detailed design phase of Client’s Projects) and familiarity with relevant standards 
such as ISO 21457 and NORSOK M-001 
▪ Identification and ranking of various corrosion and cracking mechanisms for pipelines, flowlines, 
risers, process piping and equipment for a given service and environment 
▪ Ensuring equipment compliance with sour service requirements of relevant standards as ISO 
15156/NACE MR 0175  
▪ Preparation of material, welding, coating specifications and technical datasheets in accordance with 
international relevant normative and Client’s standards 
▪ Review of qualification and production manufacturing procedures of metallic equipment such as 
linepipe, induction bends, forging, fittings in accordance with API 6A, API 5L, DNVGL-ST-F101, ISO 
3183, etc 
▪ Review of testing procedures from suppliers including corrosion testing 
▪ Review of welding procedures and familiarity with key codes as ASME BPVC Section IX, EEMUA 
158, DNVGL-ST-F101, NORSOK M-101, etc 
▪ Preparation/review of technical bid evaluations for pipelines and forgings manufacturers, welding 
contractors and coating suppliers/applicators 
▪ Review and approval of coating application procedures for structures and pipeline transportation 
systems (PQT’s, PPT’s) and familiarity with NORSOK M-501 and ISO 21809 series 
▪ Participation in kick-off meetings, pre-production meetings with suppliers within UK and abroad

▪ Preparation of technical and commercial offers for bidding purposes to Clients or potential Clients 
▪ Management and development of relationship with Clients 
▪ Contribute technically to the business development function through marketing strategies and 
analysis 
▪ Support the qualification process on Clients’ portals by providing technical inputs 
▪ Undertake other reasonable duties, as required.  



Requirements

SKILLS 


Essential:

▪ MSc degree in materials, corrosion or another relevant engineering discipline 
▪ Minimum of 2 years relevant experience 
▪ Excellent understanding and knowledge of corrosion principles and electrochemistry 
▪ Good understanding and knowledge of metallurgy, welding, coatings engineering 
▪ Basic understanding of cathodic protection principles 
▪ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in Cescor offices or in case of secondment at 
Client’s premises 
▪ Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and problem-solving skills 
▪ Full proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools (at least Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
▪ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present at small meetings 
and to prepare clear and effective written communications and reports 
▪ Team player attitude as well as ability to perform and deliver tasks autonomously 
▪ Motivated self-starter with a commitment to development 
▪ Strong focus on results 
▪ Flexibility and problem-solving attitude 
▪ Good time management and prioritisation skills working across several simultaneous projects 
▪ High level of initiative and the ability to partner across the organization effectively 
▪ Ability to understand CESCOR Quality, Environmental and HS systems (in line with ISO 9001/ISO 
14001) 
▪ Ability to understand CESCOR products and services. 

Desirable:

▪ PhD in materials, corrosion or another relevant engineering discipline 
▪ IWE/EWE qualification for welding engineering 
▪ Coating qualifications to NACE, ICORR, FROSIO or equivalent
